Cancer i tjock- och \u00e4ndtarmen har blivit vanligare i Finland under de senaste femtio \u00e5ren, och man tror att antalet patienter forts\u00e4ttningsvis kommer att \u00f6ka fr\u00e4mst p.g.a. att befolkningen \u00e5ldras .Vid kolorektal cancer \u00e4r v\u00e5rdresultaten desto b\u00e4ttre ju tidigare sjukdomen diagnostiseras.<\/p>\n<p>Eftersom tarmcancer vanligen utvecklar sig fr\u00e5n adenom, d.v.s. godartade polyper, vore det mycket viktigt att konstatera och avl\u00e4gsna s\u00e5dana f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar innan de har hunnit bli elakartade.<\/p>\n<p>Man kan \u00e4nnu inte i detalj utreda vilka faktorer som orsakar cancer i tjock- och \u00e4ndtarmen. Man har dock uppskattat att \u00f6ver h\u00e4lften av fallen kunde ha undvikits om patienterna hade \u00e4ndrat sin kosth\u00e5llning, motionerat mera och undvikit \u00f6vervikt. Personer som lider av l\u00e5ngvariga inflammatoriska tarmsjukdomar l\u00f6per en medeltalet \u00f6verskridande risk att insjukna i cancer i tjock- och \u00e4ndtarmen.
